Not Nawlins. Not NewOhlins. It's New Orlins the way the locals pronounce New Orleans. It's the Big Easy. It's a place where they don't sweat the misdemeanors, as Matthew McConaughey put it.
I recently spent a few days there and a few things you'll notice right off the bat are the climate, the pace and the friendliness. Later on you'll notice the lack of healthy food options, especially if you're used to that sort of thing. It's the south, what did you expect.
All that said, I loved that city. There is so much character, history, passion and life. It's an old city and of the cities in the US, it is the one that feels most like a European city.
New Orleans, I'll be seeing you again soon!
A partial list of places that are a must when visiting there are:
Willie Mae's (best fried chicken ever)
French Quarter (Bourbon St. wasn't the best part, just FYI)
Cemeteries (pick one, or three, they're all really cool)
